Feminine, elegant, romantic, delicate, pop and even punk. Pink is an eclectic and vital colour, a symbol of love and even inclusivity. Inside this Madrid apartment, the colour palette goes up to 12 shades of pink, which dominates all spaces and furnishings. A small interior of 55-square-meters (592-square-feet) catapults its guests out of the routine of everyday life, and transports them into a  decidedly extravagant world.

A Quaint Property

The home titled ‘Minimal Fantasy’ is designed by Patricia Bustos Studio, and is hidden in the narrow streets of the historic centre, a few steps from the Puerta del Sol square. “This is a vacation rental house, and we wanted that beyond a practical and rational distribution of spaces (two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen and a living room), everything else would fit into our manifesto of three Ss (surprise, singularity and meaning),” explains the studio.

“The apartment is inspired by Ricardo Bofill’s The Red Wall (La Muralla Roja), where the architect creates a mysterious and infinite space with the perfect transformation between 2D and 3D, and with different elements that play with illusion. The intention was to play with space, to displace the inhabitant and to make him/her enter a sort of Wonderland, where one gradually discovers what is hidden behind each door and where, thanks to the continuous floors, furniture and steps (in a strategic position), the space multiplies.”

Eco-Friendly

The few pieces placed in the home are almost all designed by the Studio. The style is fantasy, minimal and architectural. Inside, satin curtains, iridescent sheets and recycled and ecological furniture stand out, making the apartment a very cool place to stay when visiting Madrid. “This house is an example of ‘concept reality vs. fantasy,'” says the studio.
