OMG DON’T LOSE THIS RECIPE! This beer-battered cod sandwich is crispy, flavorful, and incredibly satisfying. Perfectly golden fried cod, served on a soft bun with your favorite toppings, makes for a delicious meal that’s hard to resist.

Ingredients:
For the Beer Batter:
1 lb cod fillets
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp paprika
Salt and pepper to taste
1 cup beer (lager or ale)
Vegetable oil for frying
For the Sandwich:
4 brioche or sandwich buns, toasted
4 lettuce leaves
4 tomato slices
4-6 pickles (optional)
Tartar sauce or mayo
Lemon wedges (for serving)
Instructions:
For the Beer Batter:
Prepare the batter: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Gradually whisk in the beer until you have a smooth, thick batter. Let it rest for about 10 minutes.
Heat the oil: In a deep skillet or pot, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
Coat the cod: Pat the cod fillets dry with paper towels, season with salt and pepper, and dip them into the beer batter, ensuring they are fully coated.
Fry the fish: Carefully place the battered cod into the hot oil, frying for 3-4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
For the Sandwich:
Assemble: Spread tartar sauce or mayo on both sides of the toasted buns. Place a piece of fried cod on the bottom bun, followed by lettuce, tomato, and pickles if desired.
Serve: Top with the other half of the bun and serve with lemon wedges and extra tartar sauce on the side.
Helpful Tips:
For extra crunch, toast the buns in butter before assembling.
You can add coleslaw for a tangy twist to the sandwich.
