Instructions
1. Bake the Chocolate Cake:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line three 8-inch round cake pans.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
Add in the buttermilk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract. Beat until smooth.
Gradually stir in the hot water until the batter is well combined.
Divide the batter evenly among the prepared pans. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Allow the cakes to cool completely.
2. Prepare the Banana Cream Filling:
In a bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form.
Gently fold in the mashed bananas, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until well combined.
3. Make the Ganache:
In a saucepan, heat the heavy cream until it begins to simmer.
Pour the hot cream over the chocolate chips. Let sit for 2 minutes, then stir until smooth and glossy.
4. Assemble the Cake:
Place one layer of the chocolate cake on a serving plate. Spread a layer of banana cream filling on top.
Repeat with the remaining layers, adding banana cream filling between each one.
Pour the ganache over the top of the cake, letting it drip down the sides.
5. Top it Off:
Decorate with whipped cream, sliced bananas, maraschino cherries, chocolate chips, crushed nuts, and chocolate shavings.
Enjoy!
